Adopt Maddie

Female Border Collie

About

Maddie is a super duper spoiled girl that lives in my office. Maddie was probably an outside dog before and now that she has tasted the sweetness of air conditioning, she prefers to only go outside to do her business. Maddie is Heartworm positive, but we have already started her one the road to recovery. We have decided with our vet that we will not be treating Maddie’s Heartworms as of now, but she has started heart medication to decrease the load her heart has to carry. She will need to be on this medication for her remaining days, so please consider this if you are willing to be her savior and give her a spot on your couch and in your heart.

Shelter Description

My name is Janet Noe Walsdorf and my husband Jimmy and I have owned and operated Alamo Heights Kennel Club & Salon since 2002. My husband and I are very fortunate to have the ability to also run a rescue for dogs in need. I primarily rescue dogs from the animal control center, but we do get dogs directly from owners in need of a new placement. All of our rescues are judged on temperment and adoptability, not by breed. We ensure that each rescue is current on vaccs, spayed/neutered, groomed, flea/tick preventative is applied, microchipped and heartworm tested. I firmly believe that dogs are our best friends and should be treated with love and respect. Each dog has a different story and we treat them accordingly. Some rescue dogs are at the facility for a week while others have been there for years. We do not ship out to euthanize if they do not get adopted quickly. I figure if I took them on in the first place, they are my responsiblity to care for until a forever home can be found. We only ask for donations for special treatments when required ie, dental, heartworm treatment, sarcoptic mange, surgery above spay/neuter, etc.

Adoption Instructions

All interested persons are asked to fill out an application for the pet they are interested in adopting. We require them to come to facility a few times to spend quality time with the dog before taking it home. We do allow for home trial periods in order to ensure a proper fit and we accept the return of an adopted pet if the need arises.
