About Rigsby Harligen
Hi ya, it’s me Rigsby Harlingen and I’m glad you are checking me out! I’m looking for a new family to call my own! Could you be my new forever family?
Here’s my stats:
Possible Breed: Pekinese
Gender: I’m a boy pup
Colors: I’m black and white
Age: The vet says I’m about 3 years old
Weight: A trim 12 pounds
Ideal Home: I could be an only dog or I could live with other pups too. I’d probably do best with older children.
Now for the good stuff!-
I AM a LAP DOG!!! Yep, if you are looking for someone to love on, I’m your man! You can rub my head and I’ll just love to be the center of your attention. I love two things most-sitting in your lap and taking naps in big fluffy beds! Oh wait, another thing I love is sitting in the sunshine and then having a good roll around in the grass! Don’t I sound adorable…well I am!
I’m getting used to my new foster siblings. So far, I’m not playing with toys really and there aren’t any cats here so I can’t tell you what I think of them. I ride in a car very well and I am learning what a crate is all about. I like walks but I really love checking out the back garden and as I mentioned before, just hanging out. I’m not on any medications but I do have cataracts. I can navigate myself around my new foster home and my foster family says I am very smart and have a good sense of smell.
My foster mom says, “Rigsby loves beds! In just a couple of days, he has checked out all the beds in the house. He just moves from one to the other, to the other!”
For more information, email my foster mom at email@example.com. Start the process of adopting me or one of the other pups by filling out the application found at www.shihtzu-rescue.com.
PS. I've had ALL my vetting, and oh boy, it was a lot. Here's what I had done:
Distemper/Parvo shots – TWICE. One shot doesn't cut it.
Bordetella shots - ALSO TWICE.
A fecal exam so I don't have any bad worms. Treatment if I do.
A heartworm test. Treatment if I am positive for heart worms
BLOODWORK to make sure my liver and kidneys are working well, because you know, we doggies often have issues in the liver and kidneys.
A DENTAL exam AND cleaning if I needed it- yep, all my toofies are checked out.
See, that's a LOT. Ask your vet - that's a LOT.
Not what you were looking for? You can adopt a different pet in The Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue (LSSTLAR) is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of abused, abandoned and neglected Shih Tzus and Lhasa Apsos. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which means your donations may be tax deductible.

Our dogs come from shelters, animal control, puppy mills, as well as owner turn-ins. They are immediately taken to our veterinarian for a complete physical examination. They are spayed or neutered, if needed, and receive all vaccinations. They are checked for both heart and intestinal worms and receive the appropriate treatments.

The next step on their journey is a foster home. We begin with evaluating their temperament, such as how they get along with other dogs or cats. We also determine if they are a playful dog or a cuddly lap dog. If we observe any behavior problems we begin positive training. They are then put on our website as being up for adoption. by using our search feature and adjusting the radius. Thank you for helping our animal shelters and rescue groups with pet adoption!
