MaleCocker Spaniel /Dachshund

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Rusty is a 5 year old beautiful red Cocker/Dachshund mix with a full tail. He has the short bowed legs and long body of the Doxie. The beautiful face and coat and weight of the Cocker. About 20 pounds. We don't think that his coat will grow out as fast as a Cocker Spaniel does, but it is long and will require daily brushing and some grooming. He does have an undercoat that sheds.

Rusty is a very sweet and mellow dog. He has an easy going personality, kind eyes and a wonderful temperment.

He enjoys hanging out inside the house as well as exploring his yard outside. He would enjoy walks on the leash, car rides, mild hiking, outdoor dining, camping as well as just about any activity that his family likes to do. If you want to just hang out inside all day, no worries there. He'll be happy to sleep by your feet. A very adaptable dog.

Rusty does fabulous with other dogs. Not too much seems to bother him.

He did take interest in the cat he currently resides with. Most likely he has kept cats out of the yard in his previous home. So, if there is a cat that you want him to be friends with, prepare for dog-cat socialization.

We have not had him around children, but feel that kids of at least 10 years old should be fine.

Shelter Description

We have been helping homeless animals since 1997. We are contacted by animal shelters for help in placing dogs that have been missed by the public for a variety of reasons. Other rescue partners that we have close contacts with, also contact us for assistance in helping dogs that they may not have room for. Last, but certainly not least, some folks just get in a bind and simply can not keep their dog any longer, for any number of reasons. If we feel we can help, we will.

We have wonderful volunteers and always welcome new additions to our rescue family.
