Alma is one of a litter of puppies Florida Urgent Rescue saved from a life of living out in the elements, with no human contact. She is one of a litter of five, who was spotted by a concerned citizen, who then reached out for help. The first time they were seen, there were eleven puppies. The next time, a few weeks after that, there were only five. Several people in the area began to feed them, but even after weeks, they wouldn't let anyone touch them. They were in bad very shape. We were finally able to trap them and get them to the vet. Their skin was infected with demodectic mange, which was compounded by scrapes and cuts they had gotten from living in the woods their whole lives. They had been surviving on leaves, sticks, and dirt, so their little bellies were just full of debris.
Alma is a sweetheart and a morning puppy, who wakes wiggling and excited to start the day. She likes being part of a pack and her adorable, white tipped tail wags when she sees her friends. When not curled up in bed, she likes to sit in the kitchen and help however she can. Alma prefers the local pizzeria, Renna's, to the national brands.

Before you visit our animals, we ask you to go through the application and brief phone interview process. We will then schedule a meet and greet with the animal and their foster parents. Every adoption starts with a 1 week sleepover, so before finalizing we can all make sure it's a perfect fit.
