FemaleShepherd (Unknown Type) /Greyhound

Say hello to our very sweet, insanely cute (those ears!), special needs pup, Aloha. Though still a young pup at just 1 year old, Aloha does not get to act like it very often. She has had a rough start in life. After being rescued from an abusive home in Georgia she was taken to a kill shelter where she was finally rescued and brought to NYC, but her journey to find a fur-ever home continues. Due to her past abuse, Aloha suffers from severe social anxiety and is fearful of people, unexpected noises and movements. Though she is afraid, Aloha is never aggressive or destructive in the home. In fact, in her foster home she has become quite the cuddle bug and can often be found climbing into her foster mom’s lap and following her around to check out what she’s up to. Aloha gets along great with her foster-dog sister and enjoys playing with her fluffy squeaky toys and bully sticks.

Due to her anxiety, Aloha does not enjoy the loud city life – she’s more of a suburbs girl and would feel happiest and safest in a quiet home with a fenced-in yard where she can get the playtime & exercise she needs. We believe there is a special someone out there that’s just right for our girl Aloha, and can give her the compassion, patience, and love that she has seen too little of her in short life. Until then, we are doing everything we can to keep her as happy as possible and are working to help ease her fears with a combination of medication and a specialized behaviorist trainer.

Aloha is a very special girl who needs a very special person to commit to supporting and caring for her and continuing to find the right mix of remedies to give her a happy future. Her special needs will require a bit more patience, dedication and attention, but she will give you back her love and loyalty in spades. If you’re an experienced dog owner who is able to provide Aloha with the support and dedication she needs, then please consider meeting this sweet girl and giving her a new lease on life. ***Aloha must be placed with an experienced dog owner who currently has ONE OR MORE well adjusted, playful dogs.

Shelter Description

We are a unique rescue, aiming to appeal to people who typically buy from pet stores and breeders. We want to promote adoption in a positive and fun way. We have the same goal as other shelters- to find homeless dogs and cats their forever homes, but we want to change the stigma some people have towards shelters and its animals by creating a chic place that people will want to go to.
We are always on the lookout for animal lovers who are interested in fostering our pets. Please contact us if you would like to assist us with this or other volunteer opportunities.
