Adopt Buddy Ray

Male Dachshund /Beagle

Young handsome loving Buddy Ray had a poor start in life in a hoarding situation and he didn't get the human contact he needed.  He has come a long way...will happily sleep on the human's bed with them, smile at them, and eat treats from their hands, he has great doggy social skills with other dogs and is a gentle soul. However, he still won't let you pick him up.  You can imagine what a handicap this is in trying to find a home for him.  His foster mom for several months have to find him a new place so change has come to his life again.  We pray that he will find the forever home with the patience he needs to make his life totally content and

Foster mom reports after months he is still frightened, hides and won't let you get close to him.  Poor Buddy Ray!  With that said,  Buddy Ray is going to need a special adopter who understands shy, unsocialized dogs. He loves his fur-siblings and runs laps in the yard.  He needs a home with another friendly and playful dog with a secured backyard.  He will only be at an event by special requests.

RAY ~ That's me but my foster mom sometimes calls me "Buddy" Ray!  I'm a smooth brown/chocolate & tan Dachshund mix with white markings.  I am a young tweenie around 2 years old weighing in at 13lbs.  I have been neutered, microchipped and UTD on vaccinations.  I've had a tough time but things are about to change.  I found myself on the streets and ended up in a scary shelter as a stray but DRLA sprang me from doggie jail and now I am trying so hard to fit in at my foster home.  I haven't had a potty accident yet, and I bark when I need to go outside. I'm not sure how to use the doggie door yet since it's new to me.  I need a furever home that is going to be patient.  I've never been able to trust and lean on anyone so I'm very cautious , guarded and unsure when meeting people.  I really want to trust and be loved but it's going to take time and work until I can break out of my shell.  I promise the wait will be worth it!  My foster mom thinks I have really cute eyebrows that compliment my handsome face.  She also thinks I'm half dachshund and half beagle since I have slightly longer legs and a shorter snout so I can totally handle a house with stairs.  She noticed that I have excellent doggy social skills and other dogs seem to like me too.  I dream about my forever home.  When foster mom says I'm ready I will attend an adoption event.

If you want to know more about me please complete an adoption application and schedule your home safety check so you are pre-approved. Make sure to mention you are interested in me so my foster mom can contact you.
