About Nasira

Please contact Paula (purrfactor@austin.rr.com) for more information about this pet.**Update 2**It has taken a year and 7 months but this girl finally asks for pets and wants them. She still has her shy times but more and more she is asking for and wanting pets and loves, especially when she sees the kitties who were sitting/sleeping next to her getting them. She will Meow and get up and come over and say me too? and it is the most wonderful thing in the world to me!**Update**As you can see Nasira has grown into a stunning lynx point girl with great ear tufts! She is still shy but gets along great with all of the other kitties and the dogs. She is still somewhat shy with humans but when you start petting her while she is sleeping, her motor starts and her paws begin to move as she starts making biscuits. Mirage and Nasira are the best of buds as you can see, we would like to keep them together because Mirage is a wonderful influence on Nasira in showing Nasira pets and loves are good things. They will thrive in a home of their own with humans to dote on them!Nasira is a gorgeous lynx point girl who is learning to trust and has quite a motor once it starts. She is currently enjoying playing with her sisters and having lots of food and toys at the ready. More to come on this girl as she progresses.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Please contact Rae (rae@luvzhorses.com) for more information about this pet.Hello,My name is Addison, kind of a sophisitaced English name. I like it.  I just got here from the Bastrop shelter with my sister Artemis and we were scared out of our wits.  I have gotten a lot more comfortable BUT my sister is still more afraid than I am.Foster mom will be keeping us for a week or two more or until we are comfortable being handled and with people but we will be looking for our special forever home the whole time!Let my foster mom know you might want me as your BFF and then come to meet me!!!UPDATE:Wow, time flies when you're having fun.  Foster Mom had to be away for 3 months and we did not get much attention while she was gone, but now we're having special 'lessons' in liking people and we're doing quite well.  My sister is STILL a big scaredy cat, but Foster Mom and Foster Sister are going to work really hard with her during Christmas vacation so we will be ready for our forever homes soon after.  We are both very healthy and beautiful and we are the age shown below here on this page.  We will make great BFF's, why not ask about us and take a chance - you won't be sorry!UPDATE Jan 16:  We are still VERY skittery and Mom is going to order some Jackson Galaxy flower remedies and we will be moved into large cages so Mom and Sis can work directly with each one of us.  Here's hoping - - UPDATE March 13:  Happy to say that Addison is doing very well.  Still a bit timid, but coming up to be petted and enjoying it.  She's out of a cage and lots of the 'roaming' kitties in the house have been allowed into the room where she is and it's now on to the next step - allowing her to come out of the kitty room and into the normal house if she wants.  I've changed her status to 'available for adoption' and she is ready for a home that is fairly quiet with someone who is willing to be gentle and patient with her.  She's a really SWEET kitty and deserves a chance at a forever home.  She gets along with other kitties, so a home with another buddy would be great.UPDATE September 10, 2016: I am sooo ready for love .  Addison is finally ready fully for a home.  She will take a bit to get used to the new digs, but she's been off with a temp foster for 6 weeks, is back and is asking to be petted, venturing out in the house and has left sister behind in so many ways.  She can be picked up, petted and will most of the time come to you.  Loud or sudden movements still un-nerve her, but in a normal home setting she'll be a great companion.  Addison is very healthy and up to date on vaccinations and is spayed and microchipped!  Won't you consider HER as your new BFF?UPDATE: October 2018:  Hey, I'm back.  Had a little health scare but turns out it was a wrong diagnosis and I'm healthy as can be.  I've been living in foster mom's bedroom and having a lot of fun and attention.  I love to sleep right next to her leg and I love being petted and I even beg to be petted.  I am still a little insecure and it shows when you move fast or try to chase or catch me.  I'm also a bit face shy still although I love it when you scratch and pet my head, just nervous if you try to use two hands at once.  If I'm on the bed and I know you, you can pick me up.  I will be okay for a few minutes but after that I want down.  I have the tiniest little meow, you'd think I was a kitten.  I might be a little bit insecure still BUT once I settle in and get to know you I'll be your BFF and give you back lots of love!New pics coming soon!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Zing! Straight to Your Heart!Hi! My name is Arrow, and I'm a sweet, outgoing, and playful gray and white tuxedo DSH gal who was born in April 2018. I love to talk to you, and I always have lots to say! I was named Arrow because I have such a beautiful triangular face and pointed ears that my foster meowmy thought I looked like an arrow. My brother was named Bow to match, and my sister, Feather to go along with the theme! Our cat mama was rescued as a pregnant stray from a parking lot, and we were born in our foster home the very next day! Talk about just in time! Bow, Feather, and I all love to play together, so I would love a home with one of my siblings or with other kitties to play with. Well-behaved children or cat-friendly dogs would be okay too! I just want a loving home where I will never end up homeless and outside like my mama was. Don’t you want to take me (and Bow or Feather, for that matter!) home today?Arrow is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for her indoor-only home. No de-clawing permitted. Her adoption fee is $125 for kittens 9 months old and younger, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends. Please write to her foster if you are interested in Arrow, and we can let you know exactly where you can meet her.To adopt one of our cats, you must fill out our adoption application and be approved by one of our adoption counselors. Please contact Carol (carol_stephens@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.01/06/2019: Behati was returned to her foster home because she was urinating all around her house, and this had continued for a couple of years. Her vet wasn’t able to figure out the problem, so she came back to our foster home. Our vet determined that she has a bladder stone with an ultrasound machine, so we first tried dissolving the stone with a month of special food. That didn’t work, so she is scheduled for surgery mid-January. When she heals, she will be ready for a new home.Behati is still the same wonderful girl that she was as a kitten, but she now has a much more ample girth! She is sweet, purry, talkative and playful, and really a great kitty! She won’t leave her foster home until she is completely healed, and with instructions on how to keep her healthy. She deserves a second chance!Original write-up:Hi my name is Behati! Foster meowmy gave me such an exotic name because I have such unusual markings! I have a lynx point tail but a white and tan marbled body with beautiful Tortie point ears. I have piercing ice blue eyes and the cutest pink nose you've ever seen! Some people call me a dilute tortie point.Foster mom was at the shelter picking up 2 other kittens when the shelter worker pointed me out saying my time was up that day....and so here I am at foster meowmy's house. If she hadn't come along at just the right time things might not have turned out so well for me.I'm a super sweet girl that loves to sit in laps and purr, and I'll look up at you with eyes that say 'I'll love you furrever!'. Email my foster mom today if you want to take me home!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Sister and brother pair from Riata colonyEmail Foster directly (for these kitties only) at KittyFoster.Shawna@gmail.com  Beyla (Seal Point Siamese mix) and brother Loki (Flame Point Siamese mix) Beyla, named after the Norse Goddess of the Earth (which also translates to 'Brown' or 'Little Bean'), is a sweet and playful Seal Point Siamese mix from a Riata Colony in NW Austin. The foster mom Shawna is a regular feeder at the colony and first spotted Beyla and her brother Loki in Fall of 2017 as kittens at the established feeding station. As feral kittens, they were extremely shy at first, but foster mama established a private feeding station for them and their mama 'Freya,' (named after the Norse Goddess of fertility because she has had many litters at Riata, as she was resistant to trapping). Shawna was very patient with this family and over time, they learned to trust her. When Shawna called to them for feeding time, they came running from several apartment buildings away and proceeded to rub all over the branches at the feeding station all sweet and cute and if to say, 'yay! food! Yay! thank you! let me love you from a short distance!' Shawna knew these babies would make sweet companions if she could house them and spend time socializing them. Beyla was the first of the two to approach Shawna and ask for pets and purr. She is a real sweetheart! Loki is more fearful, but sweet. Neither of them ever swatted or tried to bite Shawna in fear; they have a truly sweet disposition. Beyla’s brother is a flame (red) point Siamese mix called Loki, named after the Norse God of Fire and Mischief, (Flame point, god of fire, get it? lol!). When Shawna set up the drop trap, mischievous and playful Loki decided to rub his chin on the suspended corner of the drop trap, nearly trapping his mom and sister prematurely! Shawna had to spook him away, but he came right back to play with the draw string that pulls the trap shut, again nearly trapping mom and sister! lol!  This brother and sister are a bonded pair and Shawna really wants to keep them together. They comfort each other and Beyla helped teach Loki that Shawna was safe and helped to socialize him and when Beyla was first spayed, she would not eat (for 2 days) until Shawna put Loki in the crate with her, so he comforts her. When scared, they huddle together and they love to play and snuggle. Beyla and Loki are Feline Leukemia and FIV negative and were vaccinated for Rabies, FVRCP, FeLV and microchipped. Update: Shawna has fostered these babies since April and they have really come a long way! When Loki is sleeping on the bed, Shawna can put her head on him and snuggle and pet him and doesn't move, but just purrs and wants more pets. Beyla was less shy from the beginning, so this was huge for Loki! At feeding times, they both rub on Shawna's legs and want pets, Loki especially loves pets on the forehead. They love to play; Beyla LOVES chasing the red dot, and Loki loves the toys on a string. They make the most adorable chirping noises to Shawna and each other. These babies are super sweet and affectionate, but still a little skittish with loud noises or sudden movements. Beyla will climb all over Shawna to purr and receive pets. Loki sleeps at the foot of the bed with Shawna and isn't afraid of normal sleeping movements and Shawna can reach down and pet him just fine.  (Note on Mama: when Freya was trapped, it was discovered that she had two more kittens already, and Shawna was able to locate them and put them in the carrier with Freya and took them home. They were three weeks old at the time of capture and they were fostered together by a friend. Those two kittens were adopted together on Mother’s Day weekend through ASR! Yay! Unfortunately, five year old Freya is too feral to socialize to find a home, but she was spayed, vaccinated, combo tested (negative for FeLV and FIV), microchipped and returned to her home. She has been seen many times since release and she looks healthy and happy! Shawna will continue to attempt to socialize her in the field.)    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Please contact Rae (rae@luvzhorses.com) for more information about this pet.Hi There,My name is Bria and I was living at the Comanche, TX shelter when they discovered I was pregnant. They scurried and made arrangements for me to get out of the shelter ASAP so I wouldn't have my babies there. The nice ladies at Comanche, especially Laurie and Kimberly worked quickly and got me to ASR and into a foster home on Tuesday and I had my babies on Thursday!  Talk about the nick of time!I am the proud healthy mother of three little cuties who will be up for adoption in 8-10 weeks time.  I will then need my own forever home and if you would like to have me as a BFF please come to meet me.  I'm a very loving girl and a really good Mom and I purr all the time!5/6/16 UPDATE: Bria has come a very long way and is now ready for a forever home.  She is a silly, bouncy kitty with a bit of 'tude', but she is friendly and ready for more.  She isn't really comfortable with most of the kitties in our home, but plays with Darth as if he was her baby or she was his sister.  She has gotten a lot more comfortable with humans as well.  She will rub up against my legs and allow me to pet her on the head and chest and one or two strokes down her back and then gets excited and sends 'warning' signals.  I think she just gets easily over stimulated, but she can be a bit nippy so she is not a good choice for a family with small children.  She would be great as a companion for an adult home with one other kitty as long as she is allowed plenty of time to acclimate and get used to the other kitty.  I do believe that if Bria has a home of her own where she has more area to roam (right now she stays basically in one big bedroom) she will come completely out of her fear shell and become a really sweet and loving kitty.  Won't you tkae a chance on this girl?  She deserves a place of her own after such a rough start.UPDATE: July 2017 - Bria is definately a good candidate for an adult home with one or even two other kitties.  She is now integrated into the population and managing nicely.  She isn't agressive and will back down from confrontation but sometimes she will defend herself a bit.  She still is a sweet girl but still gets a bit over excited at too much petting. She really needs a quiet home where she can ask for and get the attention and love she deserves.  She'd make a great companion!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Please contact Rae (rae@luvzhorses.com) for more information about this pet.Hello from a Happy family,Well that's so true because our mother's name is Happy!  She's a great mom and we love her to pieces and it would be nice if we could all stay together but I think she's ready for us to go to our own forever homes! Our dad's name is Max and he's an orange tabby.  After mom gets spayed she will go back to live with Max and daddy Bill.My name is Tres and I'm a buff and white tabby male but I'm a little bigger and darker than my sister Dos.  I have three brothers and one sister and I suppose you might be able to guess their names - yup Uno, Dos, Quatro and Cinco. Even 'tho we have those names now we are just babies so if you adopt one or two of us you can name us whatever you want!  I'm a sweet little girl with a rather tomboy personality.  I love to snuggled up with my sibs but a bold little girl who loves action.  I have a mean pounce and me and my brothers Uno and Cinco really tear it up!  We are funny and joyful and really sweet kids.  Our mother taught us well.  Of course we are still babies so you will have to help us learn the rest of what we need to know and in turn we will love you to pieces and be the best BFF you ever had!Foster mom is not really hot on the idea of a kitten being adopted as an only child and having to spend time alone while you are at work so she's suggesting that if you don't have ANY friends for me that you pick one of my sibs and adopt us together.  That way we have someone to keep us company and play with while you are gone and we won't get into michief and do things you don't want us to do.UPDATE 2/12/19  Mom renamed me Dusty because, well without my sibs, the other 'number' kitties, it sounds kinda lame .  I'm a GREAT kitten.  I am an extreme pocket kitten.  I love to sit on you, lay on you and purr for you.  I'm healthy and playful and would make an excellent companion.  I would be okay as a single kitty BUT I would love it if there was a buddy for me, be it a dog that likes kitties or another cat that isn't mean or you adopt another kitty to by my friend.  I just love everybody.  Please give my foster Mom a call if you think I could fill that spot in your life for a best kitty friend!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Light as a Feather!Hi! My name is Feather, and I’m a sweet, quiet, and shy Classic torbie DSH little girl who was born in April 2018. 'Classic' means that my tabby markings are in marble-like swirls on my sides, which is really quite unique and striking; 'torbie' means that I'm a silver tabby with peach spots scattered on the tabby markings. (It looks like I got splattered with caramel in a candy factory!) I like to just sit back and watch everything, but I love getting scratched near the base of my tail and receiving loving attention from my foster meowmy.I was named Feather because I'm the smallest of my littermates, and I am light as a feather! My brother and sister are Bow and Arrow, so we all have tribal names. My cat mama was rescued as a pregnant stray from a parking lot, and we were born in our foster home the very next day! Talk about just in time! Foster Meowmy thinks I would prefer a quieter home without very young children or loud dogs. I just want a loving environment where I will never end up homeless and outside like my mama was. Don’t you want to take me (and one of my siblings, for that matter!) home today?Feather is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for her indoor-only home. Please contact Vicky (vic.kennedy@hotmail.com) for more information about this pet.I am fostered in San Antonio. I was picked up in San Antonio and taken to SA ACS. About a week later I was rescued from there and went to my foster home. My foster mom calls me Fever.  I think she said it had to do with “White Line Fever”.  Or was it “Cat Scratch Fever”?  Maybe it is because I am just so hot!  Look at me; you just have to agree. When I first met my foster brother we got along great. Not so much with his sister but I think that is on her and not me.  Now she plays with me almost as much as he does.  I also get along with young kids and let them carry me around.  Anything to be a part of the family. If you adopt me and you have other playmates for me (oh goodie), but I would really like my own bowl for dinner.  That is one thing I don’t like to share.  I might be smaller and younger than them but I can cover their bowl like nobody’s business (and it’s a big bowl).  I’m not mean about it, I just mean business and they wait their turn.  I love sitting in “mom’s” lap or on her shoulder in her favorite chair. Oh and I like to know where everyone is.  I’m not real vocal, I chirp mostly, but I do like to stay close by; you need to walk carefully.  If I can’t find anyone, I cry out for them.  Call me to let me know where you are and I will come running. It’s great to be loved and accepted.  My foster mom loves me, so much so, she wants me to have a very special home of my own. Maybe that home could be yours.Update:  Fever was adopted but then brought back when he turned one.  He was beating up the declawed geriatric original pet.  When I got him back I was neverous and it took about 3 days for everyone to calm down and become friends again.  He is one month younger than my two and they all get along fine.  He also plays with Sheila who is about four months younger.  He does like to play and he and Xena get a little noisy but everyone else plays quietly.  No one has been injured.Fever loves alone time in my room with or without me.  He loves to sit in my lap or at my head on my chair.  He is a very loving cat and loves human companionship.  He still has his beautiful blue eyes and he now has beautiful flame point markings.  He is not so agressive about eating and I have to have a separate area for him to eat or my two would eat it all.  The only time he meows is if I am in my room and he is not.  He also bangs on my door.  He chirps when he is happy. He will be great as an only cat or with young playful cats.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Meet Francis!Hi there! my name is Francis, and I'm a sweet, affectionate, and sociable flame-point Siamese/ DSH mix fella with big Frank-Sinatra baby blues who was born in April 2014. I love attention, and when you oblige, I'll roll over and purr for you! I seek affection and would sit with you all day if you'd let me. I'm pretty amiable with all 2-legged and 4-legged critters: I’m okay with other cats and well-mannered dogs. Plus I would even do fine with kids! My foster meowmy rescued my mama as a pregnant stray, and I was born not long thereafter. I was adopted as a kitten, but unfortunately, my adopters got flooded during Harvey. After a year of that trauma and upheaval, they decided that they were no longer able to properly care for me, so they returned me back to my foster meowmy. Even though coming back to my foster home after 4 years away was new and scary, I’m just as sweet and affectionate as ever! I just want my furrever home this time! Horatio Nelson of the British Royal Navy and was a street cat rescued by my navy friend in Corpus Christi, TX.  I was looking for a pet at the time and we made a perfect match so the rest is history!   Over the past 2 years though I've moved three times and am now traveling more as part of my work duties.  I am also getting married in April and we plan on starting a family soon after.  Unfortunately Horatio has not responded very well to these changes and has started spraying.  I have consulted my local vet and have done a bunch of reading to help resolve his anxiety and this behavioral issue.  I clean his litter box every day; do a full litter change at least 1x/month; put up Feliway diffusers in rooms; have some climbing stations around for him to use; and spend time playing and grooming.  I have even tried putting Horatio on kitty prozac but he was lethargic and it did not resolve the issue completely.  Horatio has recently been to the vet on September 14, 2018, and was given a clean bill of health so I'm pretty certain it's a behavioral response.    That being said, I am in a dire search to find Horatio a happy and healthy home, with a new owner that can provide a more stimulating and stable environment and someone to help resolve his spraying issues.  Horatio has been a huge part of my life and making this decision has been very challenging.     More about Horatio:  -He's neutered, lynx point male -front declawed and has always been an indoor cat -He has experience living with other cats as he’s been house mates to another lynx point Siamese female (spayed). They always got along quite well.   -Horatio has not lived with dogs.  -he loves, loves to play and can have bunches of energy given his favorite toys are present. He’s very into chasing feather tails!!  -he’s a big lounger, cuddler, and loves lap time.  -he is good with kids too. -he’s very curious and outgoing  -I do try and clean his teeth when I remember and he does decently well to handle that. His teeth and gums are in great condition.  -he is up to date on his vaccines and recently had a checkup on 9/14/2018. He has had no ailments or issues and was given a clean bill of health.  -the vet did check for crystals on 9/14/2018 but those results also came back negative.    Overall, Horatio is a healthy cat with a healthy appetite and attitude as well!     I’ve attached some great pictures!! His loving personality and Siamese cross-eye shines through! :)  Finding a home for Horatio is my priority, and I am able to financially assist his transfer both to you and/or his new foster or permanent home should he be considered by your organization. I attached his most recent health exam from 9/14/2018.    Horatio is a great animal and is a loving pet and I know the perfect home for him right now is out there. I have tried everything and our situation is not getting better. I really hope you’ll consider assisting Horatio and I hope to hear from you in the upcoming days.  Thank you.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Please contact Michele (bygolley1@aol.com) for more information about this pet.Oh, brother!  Mom got frustrated taking pictures of me because I was always sticking my tongue out.  Well, when she took me to the doctor for a senior physical, she learned that I have a cleft lip.  My doctor is a published feline veterinarian, and he hadn't seen that before, so his assistant took a photo and who knows, I might end up in a book someday!  I'll be glad to autograph it for you if/when that happens.  He also said he didn't think I was all that old, but just 'rode hard and put up wet.'  So you see, I need someone who is going to give me a nice home where a laid-back, quiet kitty can  get her chance to live in the lap of luxury.  I adore humans and love to be petted, but I'm  not nuts about cats.  I might prefer to be an only, but I may not need to be.  What I can tell you is that I sure don't need as many cats as there are in my foster home or in my RV.  I don't really like to be picked up, but that's no big deal, now is it?   Foster mom will try to get a better photo, but you can see I'm pretty cute, can't you? And maybe I even tug at your heartstrings?  Are you interested in making me happy by petting me and sitting on the couch with me?  Please? Email foster mom to arrange a meeting when I return to Texas from my travels to the west coast.  (Last update: 5/31/2011) Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Please contact Deborah (deborah@zallen.com) for more information about this pet.Fun loving Calico CatHowdy I am Kiki and I am as fun loving as they come.  I have been with my foster family now for over four years and though I love them greatly I sometimes think I should find a new place now that I am older.  Of course I am pretty shy any time new people are around to come and see me and I have been known to hide.  In fact even my pet sitter has never seen me at home but she knows I am there since she's seen me when I come in for my Vet checks. I love to be around other cats and therefore think a home with at least one other cat would be perfect.  My sibling Lexi the Lynx point was adopted November 2014 and my other two siblings were adopted from the shelter.  I miss them but I am really friendly with all cats that I have met so far.  My foster parents have been taking great care of us.  We have tons of toys and great food and the other cats showed me the ropes.  I am not a huge kitty but by no meow am I starving either.   We have our own places to wait when it is time to line up for treats so no one fights with each other.  I run all over the place and have a grand old time making a mess.  I guess I could be a little neater with our toys but you are only a teenager once.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

As if! He needs me!  We sleep together, eat together and play together.  I can't imagine being without him.  We play so well together too.  Foster Mom says that even though Laredo is a little bit stronger he never gets me down and hurts me. Wait...whaaaaat? I don't think he could! We share the food bowl if it's too small by taking turns!I'd love for us to be spending Christmas with a new family so won't you consider us?  We will love you forever and ever and will be the best kitties you ever had.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

More to come on this girl as she progresses.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

If you have every had a Tortie 'own' you, then you are familiar with their TORTITUDE. Pixel was born with this :-) She was first spotted on a game camera where her foster mom was doing some TNR work. She showed up skin and bones and wet. She was trapped easily enough and after about 7 days getting 'tamed'....she pretty much had command of the entire household. She is a hoot!! LIVES to play. LIVES for her wand toy. Has become such a lap kitten that it is hard to sit down without her jumping on you.So far she has gotten to be friends with my cats - She loves watching other cats play and LOVES being chased by them. Pixel is what we call a velcro cat. She has to be with you all the time. This means jumping on the desk while you work, trying to get in your lap at every opportunity, etc.  Now would be a wonderful time to start bonding with her new guardian. Pixel has learned the fine art of BEGGING. She has become very very good at it. Due to the fact she was feral -ish as a kitten, she will form a strong bond with her new guardian but may be a tad shy at first.  She also 'talks' to you....usually when it involves Fancy Feast. Torties are very very hard to adopt out (many people do not like their look). Would love to get Pixel in her forever home  - one who will appreciate and love her!For more info. - contact Stephanie (not ASR) at 512-694-6209 or stefpq @ yahooo .comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Please contact Rae (rae@luvzhorses.com) for more information about this pet.Hello,I'm Agnes of the Dispicable Me group!  My brother Kevin (the Minion) and I are the only ones left from the litter and we're looking for a home!  We may be black but we're definately half Siamese!!! We have the personality to prove it!We are very playful because you see we were orphans and were adopted by a human mom.  Yup, she taught us everything we know - except how to play fight and run really, really fast!  She gave us our bottle every few hours and gradually we all grew to be able to eat soft and hard food on our own.  She even taught us how to use the litter box!Now we're snuggly and soft and healthy and we love people and purr at the drop of a hat!  We both purr pretty loudly as well.  We're not afraid of much because we've lived in a normal people house our whole lives.Won't you consider one or maybe both of us to be your new best friend.  It's NOT true that black cats are bad luck, in fact it's very good luck to have lover lap kitties like us around!UPDATE: May 28, 2018 - After I was adopted my name was changed to Pocket. Sadly I was returned to my foster Mom today because I got so fat that I could not even clean myself.  No one 'knows' why I got this fat but my family could not keep me clean so they sent me back.  For a bit I was sad but I remembered my foster Mom and my foster Sister and even a couple of the kitties that were here long ago!  I'm so easy going with other cats as long as they are not rude with me I'm good with them. Since I'm getting a new lease on life I also got a new name 'Polly Pocket' aka Polly!UPDATE: September 25, 2018 - I had to stay in a big condo cage for a couple of months so Mom could control what I ate but then when I went to the vet I had lost 5 pounds!  Yeah!!!  I got tested to make sure I don't have any metabolic problems that would make me gain weight for no reason and for diabetes.  I don't have any of those issues! I got professionally groomed and I'm sooo beautiful and I keep myself perfectly clean.  I'm so much more comfortable and playful now!I'm a big beautiful healthy girl who is looking for a home where I can lay by you, sleep by you, sit on your lap, follow you around and lose some more weight until I'm a regular weight again.  Vet says I should weigh at most about 16 pounds so I have about 4 more to lose as of August 16th.UPDATE 2/12/19 I have lost all the weight I need to AND my foster mom has discovered that I am very self regulating...that is I don't over eat.  I've been allowed to be free in the house with access to free free dry food, but I have not gained any weight.  Foster mom says she suspected that my previous owner was feeding me things that were very fattening.  I don't miss it at all!  I am so happy now and I like to play with toys and I am fastidiously clean and faithful to my litterbox.  I am also a lover with very silky fur!If you're looking for a VERY sweet kitty who is a great companion for people and other non-agressive cats, I'm your girl.  Won't you look past my slightly plus size and help me watch my weight?  I'll love you for ever!!!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Please contact Beth (bethbach2@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Sweet Pea, outgoing & beautiful! Soft, slightly fluffy fur like fleece.Sweet Pea was owner surrendered to the shelter and she didn't even get to keep her name because they didn't care enough to leave it.  So her foster mom gave her a new one to show that even though she's had a rough time lately, she has retained a gentle and loving spirit.  She's an absolutely adorable tortie point Siamese girl, two years old.  Very gentle and friendly. Sweet Pea has a chronic congestion sound to her breathing that is caused by a congenital narrowing of the nasal passage where her nose meets her throat.  We took her to a specialist to make sure she didn't have something serious going on. The good news was that her condition isn't progressive and causes her no problems.   The bad news was that nothing could be done to correct this issue without endangering her life and that certainly isn't worth it since the condition doesn't affect her health. Any Austin allergy sufferer should recognize the sound Sweet Pea makes at times and commiserate!    She is absolutely the friendliest, most easy going cat!  So far she has adored everyone who comes to visit her foster home and doesn't mind having even young children love on her. Sweet Pea would love to have a family of her own! Please contact Stephanie (stefpq@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet.We went to help a lady in distress about a very sick kitten....only to come home with him 2 hours later. NOT planned at all. This tiny sick kitten had a rough 8 days. We did not think he would make it. Then we thought he would lose both eyes. Then we thought he would lose only one eye. 3 weeks later 'little' Walter RULES the roost. He runs, jumps, plays, chases the adult cats, begs for food, attacks toes in the middle of the night.  He thinks he is bigger than he actually is :-) He is a burst of energy...and DOES get into things he shouldn't. He is a ham at the vets (they all love him). He will play with blind cords, jump on your desk when you are working - walking on your keyboard. He cries when he wants something. He can be a little devil. He LOVES toys and loves to play. He still thinks he is tiny and will try and sleep inbetween your chin and chest while you are watching tv. Walter MUST go to a home that has another cat or kitten. He is a social boy and needs friends in the home. He may also do well with a friendly dog who won't hurt him but he is scared of the few he has met.  He adores PIXEL (another foster in the home). Ideally we would love for them to go together - but if not, he still MUST go to a house with another cat. He has not been around dogs but I think he would be ok with a friendly one, would just need to give him time. Walter still has some eye issues - and his one eye may stay cloudy. He does not have 100% vision in the one eye and vet is not sure if that will ever improve. It does not slow this rascal down at all.  For more info on Walter - contact Stephanie (NOT ASR) at 512-694-6209 or stefpq @ yahoo. com.**at our last vet appt at South Austin Cat Hospital, we found out Walter CAN have eye surgery to repair his eye! We were shocked and super happy. Bad news, surgery can't happen until Fall (sept-oct) when his eye is done growing. This is an unusual situation to be in (adopting out a cat who will need surgery down the road). We will adopt him out now and figure out the surgery with the right guardian.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less

Please contact Paula (purrfactor@austin.rr.com) for more information about this pet.Hello, my name is Zira. Once upon a time I was a street kitty in San Antonio, and had 5 sweet kittens. My babies were only a few days old when a dog marked all of us for its next conquest. I was doing my best fending it off when a very nice person scooped the 6 of us up. That's when we found our way to ASR and the loving people there. We arrived in early April, gosh 5 months ago now; and all of my babies have gone to their forever homes. At the time, I wasn't very sure of these new faces who were helping me take care of my babies and this whole living inside thing was a little confusing. Needless to say I love being inside; I don't get wet or hungry, hot or thirsty and I don't have to find a safe spot at night to sleep. I get all the wet and dry food I could want, lots of water, treats, a litter box and a soft cozy place to sleep. Foster mom even taught me how to play with this thing called a wand toy and boy do I love it, so much that sometimes I run and dive head first into them and hoard them while we play. I also love to get pets and snuggles from foster mom, I'm learning that laps are pretty cool but, am still learning. I love to sit beside her and purr she says nice things to me about being sweet and a good girl; she says I don't have to worry about people trying to hurt me any longer. Wow, does that sound pretty great. One pesky thing about living on the street is that I am FIV+, it isn't a bad thing I can still live with humans and have no issues (foster mom included a link at the bottom), I just need regular vet checkups and a little extra TLC, if I get sick. Foster mom said that all 5 of my babies tested FIV- at 6.5 weeks old which is pretty unusual if I was truly FIV+, but will need to get another test to be sure. Would you consider letting me come home with you and get the pampering that I would love?****http://bestfriends.org/resources/fiv-cats-faqsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. show less
